Our Story
Founded in 1998, Azady University has grown from a small institution into Kirkuk’s premier hub for higher education and research. With a steadfast commitment to academic excellence, we have nurtured generations of leaders, innovators, and professionals.

Our History
A journey of excellence since 1998
Foundation
Azady University was established with a vision to provide quality higher education in Kirkuk, offering a handful of programs in science and humanities.
First Expansion
Introduced Engineering and Medical Sciences faculties, expanding our academic offerings and welcoming the first cohort of engineering students.
Campus Development
Completed construction of our main campus beside Jwan City, featuring modern lecture halls, advanced laboratories, and a comprehensive library.
International Recognition
Received accreditation from the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and established partnerships with leading universities across the region.
New Horizons
Launched new programs in Artificial Intelligence, Renewable Energy, and General Medicine, bringing our total to 29 specialized programs across five faculties.

Everything you need to know about Azady University
Yes, Azady University is fully accredited by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. All our programs are recognized nationally and meet international academic standards.
Our campus is open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Sunday through Thursday. Administrative offices operate from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The library is open until 10:00 PM during exam periods.
Yes, we provide on-campus housing for both male and female students. Our dormitories are safe, comfortable, and conveniently located near academic buildings and recreational facilities.
